GENERAL
The Bike Migration confirms that the utmost care will be exercised during the transportation of bikes to and from races in South Africa.
The Bike Migration will not be liable for any action, damage, claim, cost or expense that may arise directly or indirectly as a consequence of any act and/or omission on the part of the Bike Migration its employees and/or agents (including negligence and gross negligence, except to the extent impermissible in terms of the Consumer Protection Act).
In addition to what is set out above The Bike Migration will not be liable for any claim and/or damages sustained as a consequence of any act or failure which is beyond the reasonable control of the Bike Migration, which shall include but not be limited to, war, strike, riot, crime, or an event described as an act of God such as storms, flooding, earthquake, etc.
It is your (“the client’s”) responsibility to obtain sufficient insurance cover for your bike while left in the custody of the Bike Migration.
The Bike Migration is in no way involved with insurance cover for clients bikes.
DROPPING OFF THE BIKES
Please note that for certain races, we make use of specially designed cardboard boxes in order to transport the bikes. When dropping off your bike, we will unclip the front wheel of the bike, and then place the bike, together with the wheel, in the box. We will cover the de-attached wheel in bubble wrap so as to ensure that no damage is suffered by the wheel or the bike.
When dropping off the bike, all devices which are not permanently fastened to the bike, such as speedometers, cadence meters, heart rate monitors, water bottles, etc. can also be placed inside the box so as to ensure that none of our cyclists lose any of their expensive equipment.
Please note that for certain races when we handle fewer bikes we use bike trailers that allow for the hang option of bikes. Bikes are not boxed and remain fully assembled.
OWNERSHIP AND TRANSPORTATION
Ownership of the bike always rests with the cyclist, and is never transferred to The Bike Migration during transportation of the bike.
The Bike Migration uses rented trucks, bike trailers or our courier partner services to transport bikes. Over the 12 years of services we have build up trusted relationships with other bike transporters and our preferred courier and truck service to handle the bikes expertly. Each race is different and requires different transport methods due to volume and race location.
CANCELLATIONS
All cancellations received within a period of more than 30 days before the date of the specific race for which the booking was made, will be entitled to a 50% refund of the booking price paid for that specific race.
Any cancellation received within a period of less than 30 days before the date of the specific race for which the booking was made, will not be entitled to any refund.
PRIVACY INFORMATION
Through the act of booking a bike for transportation with The Bike Migration, either via EFT or via credit card, the cyclist gives express permission for The Bike Migration to make use of the personal information obtained in order to contact the cyclist with regards to future races and/or promotions offered by The Bike Migration.
Through the act of booking a bike for transportation with The Bike Migration, either via EFT or via credit card, The cyclist also gives express permission for The Bike Migration to make use of the cyclists’ personal information in order to further future business opportunities and database interests for use of The Bike Migration.
